Female Outsider Artist- Aloïse Corbaz (Art Brut)

In the beautiful italian city of Ravenna there is an amazing art exhibition about artists outside the limits of normality. The title of the exhibition is Borderline Artisti tra normalità e follia Da Bosch a Dalì, dall'Art brut a Basquiat. (17 febbraio - 16 giugno 2013 Museo d'arte della città di Ravenna)One of the most interesting part of the show is the room dedicated to the works of  Aloïse Corbaz (1886-1964). This Swiss female artist was included in Jean Dubuffet's initial collection of psychiatric art. She was diagnosed with schizophrenia and committed to a psychiatric hospital for more than forty years. Her work was created with simple materials obtained at the mental institution. Despite the simplicity of the instruments used for her creations, her sensibility and great talent make her a unique female artist.
